Welcome to the Insta Spanish Newsletter Volume 92 Part of the Spanish Learning Blog - your weekly lessons with mp3 files, as well as links to Spanish travel spots and more. There are 2 new developments on the websites this week - I've posted a portion of the La Bamba lessons from our class - which you can access here. This just covers an introduction to Spanish stress (pronunciation) - but it can give you an idea of the format of our class. An exciting new development is the inclusion of an interactive software for viewing and listening to the material from the FSI (Foreign Service Institute) Spanish Course. With over 50 hours of audio, this course has a wealth of material and the software synchs all of the individual audio sentences with the text in Spanish and English. It's a wonderful addition to the Members Zone as this type of immersion approach is very effective. A demo video of the program can be found here. This week we're going to take a look at how Spanish people talk about where they're from. We also introduce the concept of "el gentilicio" which is the Spanish word to designate the name of the inhabitants of a country or town. After that we take a quick glance at the Mexican state of Jalisco and the famous writer, photographer and folklorist called Juan Rulfo, who was from Jalisco.
